St. Benedict Joseph Labre Ministry with the Homeless
About
Labre is animated by the central goal of using food as a bridge for relationships. Internally, we as SLU students come together to cook and join in fellowship and community. Following food preparation, we head out on various routes throughout the city of St. Louis to share in conversation and friendship with those experiencing homelessness. Our goal as an organization is to prioritize the people and relationships we develop, regardless of housing status. After outreach, we then gather to chronicle and reflect on our friends and our experiences.
Beyond our weekly outreach, Labre also engages in occasional community gatherings for volunteers and community partners, along with informative events and occasional weekend outreach runs.
